Hello, Tulsa!
Sublime Therapy Group
Getting to know:
Sarah Byerly Rupnow, LCSW
anxiety help | mental health therapy | private practice in Tulsa, OK.
Working in the field of Social Work for over 10 years.
Early Career:
In the process of earning my Bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Ok in 2008, I worked at the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center (COJC) in Tecumseh, Ok.
COJC [koh-jak] is a secured care facility under the jurisdiction of the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs. Below is a condensed list of some of my roles and jobs assisting residents in treatment services:
- Youthful Offender Groups
- Indvidual and Group Chemical Dependency Counseling
- Assault & Battery Cessation Groups
- Individual Counseling & Trauma Processing/Interventions
Taking a break?
I later moved to develop a benevolence program in Saint Augustine, Florida. I mean, I worked on expanding and advancing a community-wide plan to assist with utility or bill payments, affordable housing and voucher opportunities. It also included community service events partnering with Disney World ‘Give a Day, Get a Day’ opportunities.
Professional Turning Point:
In 2011, I enrolled at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. earning the degree of Master of Social Work in 2013. In doing this, I was offered employment with the Atlanta Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Decatur, GA.
I complete my education virtually while helping our veterans heal and manage co-occuring illness. My commitment to improving quality of life opportunities and obtaining needed care or services developed in areas of help such as:
- Marriage or Family Problems
- Problems with Drinking or Drug Use
- Helping a Veteran’s parent or spouse with failing health; depression; financial or housing assistance
- Assessment, Crisis Intervention, High-Risk Screening, Discharge Planning, Case Management
Additionally, I moved into a specific service area of clinical Case Management for both veterans and civilians living with HIV/AIDS. My efforts to meet the evolving needs in the community remain highly recognized, earning awards and accolades for commitment and service.
Finding my Place in the Field:
While building community and expanding initiative in Atlanta, I realized my own need for family and a support system. My parents and siblings were all living in the Midwest, mostly here, in Tulsa, OK. I had a vision of the future, seeing myself wishing I could turn back time and spend quality time with the people I know and love most; before it’s too late.
My transition to Tulsa was quick (and quite a story that I might share in the future). I arrived back to my home state in February 2014 on a mission to impact and reach those most in need of my one-of-a-kind work. I began valuable work with children and the families who have suffered in areas of:
- Self Esteem Issues
- Intense Trauma & History of Abuse or Neglect
- Struggle with Behavioral Outbursts and Impulses
- Divorce or Family Custody Crisis
- Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Grief/loss
- Adoption and Foster Care
In August 2016, I applied for, was approved by the state board and passed the Association of Social Work Board Licensing Exam!
Now, I bring you to this moment, MAYBE the reason you found this website, SublimeTherapyGroup.com, my latest enterprise.
